I was watching an IG video posted by Sonya who is an activist and author. She discussed that although Boseman’s perseverance was to be admired, it also had to be looked at through the perspective of oppression. She said that oppression denies black people a clean grief, and asked if Boseman continued to pursue his art because he was an artist or if he pursued it because he knew without his contributions that art wouldn’t have been made. It’s sad but according to her we’ll never know.
